BEE PACKAGE
Eventhogh the Bee Package has been known by the Argentinian beekeepers for several years, it was never considered because of de common practice of building either nucleus or simple dividitions of hives in order to get more apiaries or the sell of new colonies.
Argentina has an important extension of semi-arid lands that are no good for agriculture. Nevertheless they have a lot of own honey floral varieties, which are rich in pollen and nectar.
Beekeepers have two main reasons to explore these regions. First of all, these lands are free of pollution, this fact favors excellent honey production, and helps to the healt of the colonies. Second of all, this early flowering, at the end of winter and the begining of spring, protects the growth of the brood and the increase of apiaries. Juan José Mange, a technical consultant of important beekeepers' groups, refers in this 26th. issue, to Natural Communities in the Northern part of Río Negro and the Southeastern part of La Pampa: 'Salitrales', 'Chañarales', 'Pendientes and Cañadones', 'Tamariscales', 'Cortaderales', 'Chilcales', 'Pichanales' and 'Arbustal Mixto'.
We have published since 1995 an important issue, started by Mr. Samuel de León, from Uruguay, in his book "Las Abejas del MercoSur", about the reproduction of bees. Now we can share Ricardo Miguel Prieto's opinion which is extremely valuable. He is a breeder investigator who works permanently in the improvment and conservation of the Apis Mellifera Ligustica Naveiro's variety. |
