(Espacio Apícola, February 29, 2024) Honey imports into the United States showed a sharp decline between January 2023 and January 2024, the data comes from the respective reports published monthly by the United States Department of Agriculture.

In addition, the downward trend in prices for Argentine honey that prevailed throughout 2023 continued. In the year-on-year analysis, extra light amber honey, below 50 mm Pfund on the traditional scale, fell more than 33% for the Argentine honeys purchased by American companies.

These are the quantities of white honey, extra light amber and light amber imported by the United States in the month of January 2023 as opposed to what was imported in January 2024.

Regarding prices, for Extra Light Amber Honeys from Argentina was paid on average $3,610 per Metric ton in January 2023, while in January 2024 its value falls to $2,402 per Metric ton.

Price variations are relative to each market, while for Brazil and other countries the price improved substantially, for Argentina the main categories of honey (according to color based on the volume traded with the United States) fell between 600 and more than 1000 US dollars per Metric ton between December 2022 and December 2023 as we analyze in Espacio Apícola 142 (for subscribers)
