    VISITA AL CEDIA
    EDITORIAL
The honey commercialization for some is an occasional business, for other it is a means of life and for the great majority of us the same Life.
Those that invest occasionally in the honey are who having an important financial capital, they finds the opportunity or not to participate in the commercialization of a certain product.
For those that the honey commercialization is a means of life, they possess an infrastructure just as a great shed, a truck, an office with a couple of telephones that more or less easily can convert and dedicate to another thing, or to sell it.
When we refer to us as clerks, practically absolute, of the honey and Beekeeping products commercialization, we are referring to who our main capital are the beehives and our extraction rooms.
The eventual loss of markets interest for our products can mean us a serious problem. The value of the beehives can fall ostensibly with our teams too. These are only good for that these are maded. Also many industrial people who make Beekeeping materials and they clerks of this market, have the same problem. I am also involved in this group as producer and editor of a specialized Beekeeping magazine.
This doesn't mean that now we will worry to take place well, only fearing losing our work source. We always worry about making it well and in general the Argentinean producers works quite well: they are illustrated, they consult, they reads, they participates of training days, technical meetings and commercial exhibitions... This, besides having verified it us in more than seven years traveling the country, leave clearly when in the international honey market, with actual specifications, our production has a considerably bigger value to that of other countries competitors.
We think about three key points then:
1º. - to improveour production system to the maximum, because there are always things to improve, applying the judgment enunciated in the international normative.
2º. - to prove, starting from the specific properties of the beehives products and the work methods that we use, the real Critical Points in the crop and storage of the same ones. We need to contribute so that the specific normative in Argentina, that emanates of the application organisms (SENASA, or other possible ones) those be come coherent and non disproportionate. So that those norms respond to the specific characteristics of each product, to the size of the exploitations and be not a mere transfer from the great industry milkmaid's or Coldstorage plant normative. The honey is not milk, neither the extraction room a Dairy farm neither a Coldstorage plant.
3º. - to head toward a systematizing of our own exploitations with a work system (apiaries handling, sanitary handling, crop conditions, cares in the transfers, in the extraction room, etc.) possible and believable; in function of being able to consent, some day, the Process Quality Certification of the process that we implement, as guarantee for the market consumer. Today is not enough to make the things well, today is necessary to demonstrate it.
This, and the beehives feeding and the Beekeeping company administration, will be one of the central topics in San Francisco's meeting. We wait for you, it will be a starting point very encouraging, in spite of the difficulties caused by the " boy's " current. Nobody will make it for us and we know how to do it.
Don't forget that you can camping there and that it will be a party for all. (Look for information of the Exhibition in the page of Courses - Meetings and Exhibitions).

    Oberursel: Bees Investigations Center
    DR.KOENIGER

Occupied in providing to the Argentine Beekeeping of a systematizing in order to certify the honey production processes and other products processes of the beehive, Espacio Apícola took advantage of the trip for its director's Europe, Fernando Luis Esteban, to look for relationships of the activity in the most exquisite centers in production and consumption of honey.
After to participate of the Apimondia Congress in Antwerp and to visit beekeepers in Holland and the International Bee Research Association in Wales, we travel to Germany.
There we go to Oberursel to know the BeeNews Institute (Institut für Bienenkunde), member of the Polytechnic Society of the School of Biology belonging to the University J. W. Goethe of Frankfurt.
This institute, at the moment directed by the Dr. Nikolaus Koeniger, it had among their distinguished directors to the grateful Friedrich Rutner. In the opportunity we were received by the prof. Dr.Gudrun Koeniger, Lars Steinhard and the Dra. Cristel Rau who had the kindness to interrupt their works to dedicate some minutes to ESPACIO APICOLA.
The article that we publish, accompanied by 17 pictures and illustrations, narrates the intense life and activity of this institute and the newness on those they are working in races of bees, products to combat the Varroa, etc.

    We visit the Fritz factory

In an interesting visit to the beekeeping machineries factory that the signature Fritz possesses in Mellrichstadt, we rove into the factory and we converse with its current president Michael Wolfgang Carl Fritz.
He showed us the history of the factory from their origins and he made us a wide comment about what he understands it will be, in a near future, the market of beehives products. A very interesting vision and from an unique and privileged point of view.
Mariane Fritz didn't allow him to dry off our throat and it invited us abundant quantity of beer...
Sure if we were in Bavaria!!

To promote Good Practices of Factory

In order to joining judgments on the central topic of the next meeting that we will make in San Francisco the days 8, 9 and 10th of May, we meet in Devoto's town with the directive of the Federation of Agrarian Juvenile Coopeartivist Centers, area SanCor that contain to a couple of hundreds of youths beekeepers of the rural area in the East of Córdoba province (Argentina).
The interview that we publish in "Espacio Apícola", makes important contributions especially as for the judgments that the government should be had when they make the activity norms, from the perspective of the small and medium producers.

Mercosur: Cagey attitudes defer agreement possibilities

Reliable sources informed us that at the end of last year it was carried out a table of MERCOSUR agreements, in Uruguay. In the same one it would have remembered to lift the Brazilian restriction to the entrance of honeys with spores of Foul Brood in smaller containers to 2,5 Kg.
The encouraging decision would have been frustrated because when they went to make sign the document in Brazil, those responsible for the area, didn't want to make it because it was edited in Spanish and not in Portuguese, being that -as they commented us - for the elaboration of documents the country host's language is respected that officiates of secretary.
The same source retired of supermarkets gondolas in San Pablo (Brazil) four samples of Brazilian honey and an Argentinean. Analyzed the five samples in a laboratory of our country, all gave the presence of Foul Brood spores as a result. They would have sent similar samples to the SENASA for their study. The next MERCOSUR meeting is in March, but the application of that THEY solved it will expect from 90 to 120 days more, that is to say one winter more than difficulties.

BeeWoman: An integrative proposal for the beekeeper's family

Starting from the permanent demand of an important number of beekeepers worried to find ways to integrate their family in the Beekeeping, the Atty. in Agrarian Administration specialized in Beekeeping and Beekeeper Rafael Frati Quiroga advances what we have proposed for the San Francisco's meeting under the title of "Apimujeres" (api-woman or beewoman).
This member of our team comes working from Espacio Apícola's beginnings (1990) making a systems of apiary activities registration and economic registrations of the beekeeper's company.
The main idea is especially to present these simple systems like participation alternative for those members from the family who don't like the apiary works, for the wives, or the beekeepers' partners, or some son or daughter more friend of the computers that of the "smoke maker".

Quality Control of Processes and Products
    Dr. JOSE MAIDANA

With reason of inviting them to participate actively in San Francisco's meeting, ESPACIO APICOLA traveled until the Ce.D.I.A. (Beekeeping Investigation Center) in "Santiago del Estero" city to exchange opinions about what we glimpse will be the Argentine Beekeeping of the Third Millennium", general title that will summon us from the next 8, 9 and 10th May. In the Picture the Dr. José Maidana who acts in the one mentioned Center from their origins, 20 years ago, at the same time of the grateful Dr. Eduardo Mario Bianchi.
The original proposal that we take, of advancing toward to apply the Good Practices of Factory of foods norms, specifically to the beekeeping, was very well accept for the professionals of these important investigation center.
The starting point will be to know how cares are to have today with the honey, or other products of the beehive, and our reality of beekeepers. Both items, product and producer, they are very far from the big factories of perishable foods from those which many times the governments interpret and they regulate the norms. The objective: to walk toward the quality certification of our work and products.

    Germany: European market demands Thermometer
    FRIEDRICH ULLMANN

In the search of relationship we didn't keep only in mind the supplying companies and the investigation centers, we also wanted to know like grateful European beekeepers work.
We visit Friedrich Ullmann, a beekeeper of 250 beehives in Germany. Our guide, Xaver Mayer of the Fritz enterprise, say that Ullmann is one of the ten more important producing of Germany.
Ullmann received us in his extraction room, beside his house in a residential neighborhood and very town of Erlensee near Frankfurt.
It was a very interesting conversation. We speak of the strong organization that the beekeepers have in Germany and their concern because the honeys that enter to the German market have the due certification of quality that people are demanded to them.
The visit that we narrate thoroughly in "Espacio Apícola", was us very useful to verify the simplicity of the work that they carry out in comparison to the norms that the government are sought to impose to beekeepers in Argentina.

Beekeeping Blooms: Hydrophity (sp:hidrófita) Vegetation of the Paraná's River Delta

"Espacio Apícola" had the opportunity, in having reiterated occasions, of not only visiting producers and apiaries in the delta, Pedro Barbotto, Carlos Damocles Pusterla, Eduardo Dimarco between other members of the "Ramallense and Nicolaeña Beekeepers Association" (ARyNdA); but in a large part of the basin that nurtures this wonderful ecosystem, one of the biggest of their type in the world.
The Beekeeping interest bloom in the delta is a very wide thematic, complex and changing, not only for local climatic reasons and of the great influence region, but also for the alterations that the human activity causes in a more direct way.
The Bulletin of the Argentine Biology Society and the Darwiniana's magazine published in 1996 two works carried out by Alicia Mabel Basilio and for her and Edgardo J. Romero, titled "Len de las especies Hidrófitas en las mieles del Delta del Río Paraná (Argentina)" and "Contenido Polínico en las mieles de la Región del Delta del Paraná (Argentina)", respectively. We also had access to the original works and reports remitted to the beekeepers that participated providing those near 30 samples of honeys coming from different areas actively. We thank the gracefulness of the beekeepers of ARyNdA who facilitated us this material, manifesting this way their interest for professionalize the beekeeping and hierarchize the activity with studies of true scientific value.
These works are very important because they are scarce the investigations on the hydrophity (sp: hidrófita) vegetation in our country and because, for the beekeepers, it is fundamental to know this important resource of nectar and pollen.
