Honey price increase in Argentina

Pedro (Picture: Pedro Calderón is collecting some flowers to complete the Pollen data base in Mendoza)

Contrarily to what we foresaw that it could happen, we have begun the 2000 with a honey price increase and enough competition in the buyer sector.
The crops are presented disparate. The "Mesopotamia" (among rivers) and Uruguay's drought has brought important damages in the region and we are waiting to know only what it will happen with the eucaliptus crop.
The basin of "Mar Chiquita" (the Tiny lagoon of Sea in Córdoba) had in general good crop, not so the center-north of Córdoba where late colds added to certain lack of rains miscarried the regional production of nucleus and honey.
While in Mendoza and San Luis had disparate behaviors, the South of Córdoba, North of Buenos Aires and "La Pampa" (The Pampas), present delays of more than 15 days that their producers wait they recover with a continuation of the season.
Everything makes suppose that the price is sustaining, largely, for a offer lack due to climatic problems and the virulent appearance in some Buenos Aires areas (west and south) of the famous "hunter of bees blowfly" (Mallophora ruficauda).
It would also be influencing in the price the great width of honey orders with specific demands in color and rigorous residuals tolerance parameters (mainly "fenol" = ¿carbolic acid? and antibiotics).
Most of these orders, in turn, they inquire on the botanical honeys origin.
All these variables make us show off that the Argentine Beekeeping Regions Meeting that we propitiate in the next Api-Expo San Francisco 2000, is a convocation more than opportune and a service that the Argentinean beekeepers tacitly were demanding.
Once again we invite all the beekeepers to celebrate our friendship and common passion for the bees. You take advantage of this space of participation that we are generating.
We also invite all the professionals that, in an or another way, they are working in projects linked to the determination of the vegetable and regional origin of the beehive products, to present their works to be related and to exchange information with beekeepers and professionals of other regions of the country.

Paintings for Beehives, machinery and drums for Honey use

Juan Carlos y Leonardo Zaccaro
Doctors Juan Carlos and Leonardo Zaccaro
In a note carried out the Chemical Doctors Juan Carlos and Leonardo Zaccaro, of the Pintegral company, we analyze the current problem of the Toxic Residuals in honey, probably derived of the paintings.
The note that includes a report, clarifies concepts on the different types of paintings that are perfectly capable for recipients or work tools that have contact with honey. From unleaded paintings to beehives protection, until varnishes sanitariums without "fenoles" (= ¿carbolic acid?) for drums for honey.
